Filipinos and Germans have been gathering in Hannover during the past years to celebrate the Holy Mass and other religious events. Catholics and non-Catholics have been participating actively in these events. Despite the good number of Filipinos in Hannover and neighboring places, there is no regular celebration of the Holy Mass or religious gathering. The celebration depends on the visit or availability of priests. On June 27, 2009, active members of the community met to formalize the establishment of a community committed to God and to one another.
This meeting aimed to give better structures and to formally organize the community since it has been existing for the past years, fully aware of its responsibility to many Filipinos and non-Filipinos in Hannover and nearby cities. With the suggestion and approval of participants of the meeting and the community who attended the Holy Mass, the community be now known as the PHILIPPINE COMMUNITY in HANNOVER.
Much joy and support has been expressed by the community who felt the need to cooperate and unite, to reach out and share, to grow spiritually and meet regularly. It was suggested and approved that there be at least one religious event EVERY MONTH. Such meeting is important to maintain the contact, to grow spiritually and to plan for community events and projects. It must not be lavish in term of food preparation, but what is most important is the opportunity to meet regularly. If there is an available priest, then a HOLY MASS will be celebrated at an arranged time and place.
